Audiologist part II

We saw an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor today, as well as another Audiologist. It was determined that he definitely has high frequency hearing loss. It is likely genetic. We are still deciding on how much testing we really want done at this point to determine the cause. Blood work, CT scans, what's the point, is my initial thought. He needs hearing aids. What more do we need to put him through? Since Chris and I are now in denial, we are going to Children's Mercy in November for another opinion...and they deal with more children with this type of loss than the ENT we saw today. Thus begins our journey with disability and the wonders of our broken health system.

I'm so sorry you guys have to go through this. At least you guys found out what was wrong and can now take the steps to help him hear better. Those Halloween costumes are just precious! I hope you guys had fun tonight! See you soon!

I'm here if you want to talk. I know my boys' disabilities are different (and were "expected" - as much as mother ever expects something like that....) but I'm here to listen if you want to talk.

Thinking about you,
Kara

I can't say I know how you feel, but I know how you MUST feel...I'm always here to talk or listen! I'll bet you'll be amazed at how his language skills take off once he gets those hearing aids!
